Whenever you’re trying new things, it’s always best to take a deep breath first. That advice has never felt more real to me than in these past few weeks as we get closer to the 2025 Proclaiming Art Exhibition – Introductions.
For artists to send in their work, I had to set up a shared file. Simple, right? Not for me! It took several attempts, a bit of head scratching, and eventually upgrading my account before things started to flow. One of the artists was in the same boat—she had never sent anything via a shared link before. So there we were: two newbies, figuring it out together. And in the end, success! We now have an easy, seamless way of sharing artworks and everything that comes with them.
Trying things for the first time doesn’t stop there. One of the artists in Introductions has never exhibited before, and for me, this is my first time curating a group of artists. Fresh steps all around.
Introductions has also been a kind of “test pilot” for the 2026 exhibition (yes, with the same name—Introductions). But that one will go bigger, developing into a full mentoring programme to help artists that have not exhibited before to shine.
Keep an eye on the website, because details about the 2026 mentoring programme will be coming later next year. For now, I’m just enjoying the magic of firsts—the nerves, the learning curves, and the joy of new beginnings.
