Best Time Ever!

A Fresh Start: Five Days to Freedom

I believe a lot can change in a week. Actually—scratch that—it hasn’t even been a full week. It’s been five days. Just five. And I feel like a completely different person.

Last week, I was drowning in to-do lists, deadlines, and overwhelm. My creative energy was gasping for air under the weight of everything I “should” be doing. The path ahead looked exhausting—more like a steep climb with no rest stops than an exciting adventure.

But then, I made a decision. A small but significant one.

I signed up with a new art mentor, and art community.

And honestly? The shift that has happened in my mindset, attitude, and behaviour is astonishing. Instead of a long, anxiety-inducing checklist, I now have just two focused steps to take. That’s it. Two. It’s like someone turned on the light in a dark room and handed me a map that only shows the next few steps—not the whole journey. And that has made all the difference.

I’ve had one and a half days (yes, I’m counting!) of rest and fun. Real rest. I even went to a book club—which, by the way, I thoroughly enjoyed. Who knew sitting around talking about stories could feel so invigorating?

It may sound dramatic, but I feel like I’ve been freed. My mentor’s approach to art and life has been utterly liberating. For the first time in a long time, I’m looking forward to painting again. I’m excited to experiment with colour, to try new techniques, to play without pressure.

April 24th—I've marked it as a personal new beginning. I even bought myself a brand new sketchbook and an art & business journal to mark the moment. There’s something deeply symbolic about fresh pages waiting to be filled, isn’t there?

So here’s to a brand new start. To lightness. To creativity. To joy.

Here’s to my best time ever—because it’s only just beginning. 🌿✨

Have you ever had a week (or five days!) that turned everything around?

You are great and very inspiring, Christine! (sorry, it’s just me from FYL)
That is so well written. You’re going to be amazing 🤩
I too, have had an inspirational week. After I forced myself to do a painting evening, with a bunch of women I’d never met. It was absolutely what I needed. Looking forward to the next learning curve! See you soon xx
