If you had asked me last year whether I’d be part of another exhibition in 2025, I would have given you a firm “no.” After a challenging 2024—filled with personal and family health hurdles—I was certain I needed time out. I was tired, burnt out, and ready to step away from the whirlwind of exhibiting.
But sometimes, inspiration finds us in the most unexpected and gentle ways.
Over a cup of tea and a phone full of art photos, I found myself in conversation with my friend and fellow artist, Stanislava. She was sharing her dreams—big, beautiful visions of fabric design and where she sees her creative path unfolding. As she talked, she showed me glimpses of the work she’d been creating as part of her diploma course, and something stirred in me. Her passion was contagious, her art alive with texture, depth, and vibrant originality. It reminded me why I love this world of art in the first place.
That conversation didn’t just lift my spirits—it shifted my whole direction for the year. I'm entering 3 pieces for this exhibition as I want to focus more of my time curating, which is a challenge and a joy, and I’m so grateful to be putting my energy into championing other artists.
Which brings me to Stanislava.
Based in London, Stanislava is an incredibly gifted mixed media artist with a deep curiosity and playful spirit. She’s a creative alchemist, transforming everyday materials—cardboard, paper, paint, textiles—into expressive, thoughtful works of art. Whether she’s working on illustrations, sculptural forms, or textile designs, there’s always a richness to her use of texture, colour, and composition. Nothing she makes ever feels predictable. There’s always something fresh, something beautifully unexpected.
Her work for the Proclaiming Art Autumn Online Exhibition is still in progress, but I know it’s going to be something special. I’ve had the privilege of seeing her creative process up close, and I can say with confidence that this is an artist with a unique voice and vision. I’m honoured to be part of the team that gets to share her work with the world.
I can’t wait for you to experience what she’s creating.
